I Don’t Know About You But I Want This Badly. Now Make It Happen

Every other blue moon, or even less regular, one item catches one’s attention enough to say that one wants that thing badly. I think I just had one of those moments seeing what is sadly only a concept design by Mateusz G?ówka.

If ever this finds production, trust me one will be mine, even more if it were to be released as a high end surround amplifier. Read more

For Those About to Rock, We Salute Your Alphabet

The alphabet. Typography. Rock. Three words, one awesome A1 poster.

No word on whether still available or not but for only 30€ I could see this against the wall of the soon to be equipped gym. Or the same room might be used for an office rather than a gym. Read more

Lorem Ipsum 2 Pac Style or Something Like That

2Pac is Dead. 2Pac is alive. I just can’t follow them kids anymore nowadays and I don’t know whether all that stuff has been good or bad to us. Remember that everything before R’nB used to be good and nice. Mariah Carey had a wonderful and musical [self-named] debut album then she found Puff Diddy or P.Daddy or whatever his name is.

If you thought that were bad, think again. Now there’s even Gangsta Lorem Ipsum. It goes like this.

Lorizzle rizzle dolizzle break it down break it down, break yo neck, yall adipiscing black. Nullizzle sapizzle velizzle, izzle volutpizzle, suscipit sheezy, gravida vel, fo shizzle. Best Cigarette Package You’ll See All Week

I can not help it and it certainly isn’t because of my closet goth style, but I do like these cigarette packs. Great design and sarcasm at its best.

Apple Paris Store in Louvre Opens on Saturday

For those who have never seen an Apple Store from the inside, check out this Flickr Gallery from Le Journal du Geek, who were invited to the press event before Saturday’s opening. If you live in the area, the 5,000 first visitors receive a T-Shirt in good old Apple tradition.

As can be seen in the photos, this is another store with a ‘famous’ glass staircase.

Simple Bike Requires Huge Effort

When they started they wanted to make a nice and simple bike. I like the design but I do not want to think at the physical effort needed to climb a small hill with a 1:1 ratio when pedalling the back wheel.

simple-bike-1

Our project, simplicity in inner city bicycling, was at first glance a fun aesthetic opportunity in new trends, color, and materials. Our target lived / worked in an inner city environment with minimal space. Bicycling at this level can be more about fashion and culture than speed and performance.
After the first few brainstorm sessions we knew there where bigger opportunities. The project ended up rethinking what a “frame” meant, getting ride of basic key components, and creating a new type of compact bicycling. Inspired by the first the “hobby horse” from it’s simplicity and secondly the cafe race scene. Each is an exercise in stripping something down to its core.

Chair Made from Drink Straws

10,000 Drink straws were needed to make this chair and still it looks like it is not comfortable at all. According to designer Scott Jarvie it is a research piece passing comment on our disposable culture. I might prefer to dispose of straws instead of sitting in this chair.

Contrarily to the chair, I actually do like the straw Clutch light.

Font Nerds: LAIKA Is The Future of Fonts

No of course not Laika the dog but LAIKA the font.

A font that is able to move between its extremes in real time. An interactive font that is able to respond to its surroundings. A font that questions deadlocked dogmas and throws up completely new design questions, and thus has the potential to revolutionise the understanding of digital typography.

Test run LAIKA here.

10/GUI, The Future of The Tablet or The Cintiq Killer?

10/GUI this seems like it could be the future of any form of computing: tablets or Cintiq killer. With or without extended fingerboard.

I bet that Steve Jobs and John Ive are already looking at this, just as the Cintiq team are.
